Save The Frogs Day 2025 at the Ajasra Research and Education Centre, Sringeri, was a morning of frog science and frog art for local students.

Session 1: Basics of Frog Identification

Resource person: Vishwajith HU, Research Scholar, Srishti Manipal Institute of Art, Design & Technology, MAHE, Bengaluru

Students were given an engaging introduction to the incredible world of frogs and the importance of their conservation. They explored fascinating facts about frogs, including their diversity, life cycle, and biological significance, and learned about the adaptations frogs use to thrive in a variety of environments, such as camouflage, vocalizations, and specialized limbs. The seminar also covered habitat preferences and the essential ecological roles frogs play, like controlling insect populations and acting as bioindicators of ecosystem health.

Students were informed about the major threats frogs face today, including habitat loss, pollution, disease, and climate change. The presentation concluded with an overview of ongoing conservation efforts and actionable steps students can take to help protect frogs.

Session 2: Leap Into Facts: A Frog Art Poster Challenge

Resource person: Dr. Abhijith H U, President, Ajasra Charitable Trust

Students designed vibrant and informative posters centered around frog conservation. Each poster reflected a thoughtful understanding of topics such as the ecological role of frogs, their unique adaptations, threats faced by global and local frog populations, and the importance of preserving their habitats. Some posters highlighted alarming facts about amphibian extinction rates, while others offered messages of hope and action, urging the public to protect wetlands, reduce pollution, and support conservation programs.

The posters were judged by Dr. Abhijith H U (President, Ajasra), Mr. Srinidhi (intern at Ajasra) and Sri Puradamane Subrahmanya (farmer, nature enthusiast and artist) on creativity and originality, accuracy of information, clarity of the conservation message, visual appeal, and effort and presentation.
